The 11th of Nissan this year marks the 80th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In the 32 years of his leadership, the Rebbe has wrought wonders in Jewish life around the world. There is scarcely a place or person that has not been touched in one way or other by the Rebbe.
While it would be presumptuous to attempt to define the scope of the Rebbe’s work, one thing is certain: The Rebbe’s efforts are totally devoted to the physical and spiritual well-being of all Jews. Lubavitch, under the direction of the Rebbe, has become synonymous with the idea of spreading Torah and Judaism to all in need.
This series is an outline of the philosophy behind the total commitment to helping others the Rebbe demands of all Jews in general, and his Chassidim in particular. While it is but a synopsis of the Rebbe’s many public addresses on the subject, every effort has been made to give as accurate a representation of the Rebbe’s views as possible.
It is our hope that this publication contribute to realization of the promise given to the Baal Shem Tov, that Mashiach will come when "your wellsprings will spread forth to the outside. "
